Keeping Families Together and Building Better Futures

At Stepping Stones Care, we believe that every child deserves love, stability, and the chance to thrive. Recently, and with Christmas looming, we were presented with an extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in the lives of three siblings who needed a safe and nurturing home urgently. Birmingham Local Authority reached out to us with a request: To take in these children and ensure they could remain together as a family. Our Home Manager Rose immediately knew she that she wanted to look after the children and give them the home they needed.

We knew this was no ordinary task. The children’s needs were complex, and their situation called for a change in our approach. Previously, Coral House (our newly registered home) operated as an Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) provision. However, to accommodate and truly support these children, we needed to transition to a home that could also look after children with Learning Disabilities (LD) creating a hybrid EBD and LD provision.

A Collaborative Effort

The transition wasn’t something we could achieve alone. From the outset, we sought guidance from Ofsted, whose support and insight were instrumental in making this shift possible. Their encouragement and understanding that this was a ‘human’ issue, validated our commitment and provided us with a clear path forward. We also worked closely with Birmingham Local Authority, sharing our vision for the siblings’ care and ensuring every detail of our plan aligned with the children’s best interests.

The positive response from Birmingham LA was overwhelming. They recognised our dedication to creating a nurturing environment for the siblings and fully supported our approach. It was truly a collaborative effort, one that underscored the importance of partnerships in achieving the best outcomes for children.

Making a Difference Every Day

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, these three siblings are now together under our care, where they belong. This accomplishment is a testament to the incredible team at Stepping Stones Care, including Rachel, our Referrals Manager, whose tireless efforts ensured the process ran smoothly. Each member of our team contributed their expertise, compassion, and unwavering belief in our mission.

This moment is why we do what we do. At Stepping Stones Care, our primary focus has always been, and will always be, on the children. We strive daily to provide the best possible care, offering a safe and supportive environment where they can heal, grow, and look forward to a brighter future.

Gratitude and Commitment

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Birmingham Local Authority, Ofsted, Rose for her unwavering vison and determination and our entire team for making this journey possible. Your dedication and collaboration have helped us achieve something truly meaningful.

These children are now on a path to a better future, and we are honoured to be part of their story. At Stepping Stones Care, we remain steadfast in our commitment to making a difference - one child, one family, one step at a time.

Together, we are building brighter tomorrows. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
